Infiniti revealed the all-new Q30 Concept vehicle at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this month. Read the press release from the reveal here:
FRANKFURT, Germany – Infiniti today revealed the next step in its strategy to expand into new premium segments with the debut of the Q30 Concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The sleek, seductive Q30 Concept is the design vision for a compact Infiniti vehicle with a contemporary, individualized character for a new generation of premium customers. The global compact premium segment is forecast for significant growth with the entry of young-minded affluent customers.
“We are becoming the younger, trendsetting brand, more relevant and more exciting,” said Johan de Nysschen, President of Infiniti Motor Company, Ltd. “Infiniti Q50, and now the Q30 Concept, deliver on this promise.”
De Nysschen was joined by Alfonso Albaisa, the brand’s Executive Design Director, who described Q30 Concept as a vehicle defying categorization. A unique blend of features reminiscing of a coupe, a hatch and a crossover, the Q30 Concept is designed to appeal to younger customers who are less likely to follow tradition and desire to disrupt convention to create their own unique experiences.
By the end of this decade, Gen X and Gen Y will represent 80 percent of buyers in the premium segment, bringing new, more contemporary expectations for premiumness.
Infiniti designers had the freedom to explore bolder, even more sensual sculpting, enhanced muscularity and playfulness, reflecting Infiniti’s approach as the seductive alternative to traditional premium automobile brands.
Infiniti Q30 Concept is the design precursor for Infiniti’s future compact premium entry. Infiniti has previously announced plans to produce a compact model in Sunderland, United Kingdom, starting in 2015.
In addition to unveiling the Q30 Concept, de Nysschen announced start of sales for the all-new Infiniti Q50 sports sedan in Europe. The vehicle will go on sale as of mid-November.
During today’s press conference, de Nysschen also presented Infiniti’s Director of Performance, three-times Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel, a special helmet to use in testing engineering prototypes of the future compact premium model – the first Infiniti model he will influence from its inception.

The road isn't only for drivers. You have to share with runners, cyclists and pedestrians. It's important that drivers know how to share the road the safest way possible. This article from ehow.com will give you some tips on how bikers and pedestrians can use the same road as motorists without conflict.
1 . Watch out for cyclists or runners wearing headphones. There is no way to know how loud their music is playing, so it may be possible they cannot hear the cars around them. Music seems to take us out of our environment as well, so runners and cyclists may not even be aware or paying attention to the environment around them.
2. Know the direction bicycles and cyclists should be traveling and be cautious about those who do not follow the rules. A bike is considered a vehicle and should travel in the same direction as regular traffic. Runners should travel in the opposite direction of vehicles.
3. Look carefully before making a right turn -- cyclists and runners may be crossing the street. For them, their straight path intersects with the spot where the turn will be made. The runner or cyclist may or may not stop, depending upon their awareness or whether they see a car in their peripheral vision waiting to make a right turn. Look out the passenger and backseat windows to make sure no one is coming up from behind to cross the turning path.
4. Do not get distracted. It is easy to look away for a moment to change the radio station, answer a phone call or look at another person in the car. Even though it is a small moment, a runner or cyclist could be along the road or in an area where they are prone to be hit. They may be listening to music, engaged in their own workout or concentrating on their own direction and not be able to react quickly to a distracted driver's mistake.
5. Stay out of the bike lane unless a state law allows temporary driving in it for certain reasons. Even then, look carefully before going into the bike lane, watch for cyclists and be ready to get back out quickly if needed. A car is moving faster than a bike, so someone riding a bike may appear very quickly.
6. Pass runners and cyclists with care when they are jogging beside the road. Slow down significantly before approach them, especially on narrow roads where there is little or no shoulder. Veer the car slightly to the left to keep a minimum 4 feet distance away from them while passing, and be sure to check for oncoming cars. Make sure cyclists and runners can be fully seen in the rear-view mirror before moving back to the right and speeding up.
7. Watch for children riding their bikes, walking or running. They may be tougher to see because of their height but can appear just as suddenly as adults. Children's behavior may be more unpredictable, so be ready for anything. Don't expect children to know traffic laws or follow the rules recommended for pedestrians and bikers.
8. Check for cyclists and runners before opening the car door. On roads with on-street parking, cyclists especially may unexpectedly and quickly ride past the car door, causing an accident if it is opened. Look forward and past the rear of the car before getting out. Urge other passengers, especially children, to do the same.

This article from infinitinews.com describes the new features of the Infiniti Q50's sound system, which make it seem as though there's a concert in your car.
IRVINE, Calif. - There are 14 high performance speakers in the new Infiniti Q50 that deliver a concert experience right inside of the car. This is the company’s first ever application of Bose Advanced Staging Technology.
"Advanced staging technology is about presenting the sound in a fashion that is as life-like as possible," said Tobe Barksdale with Bose.
The Infiniti relationship with Bose dates back to 1989. The result has been a progressively steady partnership bringing premium sound directly into Infiniti vehicles.
"For the Q50 specifically, the entire product planning team worked directly with Bose to create a signature Infiniti audio sound, and the Q50 will be the first vehicle that brings this sound strategy and experience to market," said Victor Nguyen with Infiniti product planning.
Bose takes a targeted approach to every sound stage. Audio testing requires precision and isolation both with home and car equipment, but Bose engineers say creating car audio systems can be even more challenging. "[The] car cabin is extremely different compared to a home living room environment. There are a lot of reflective surfaces that can sharply affect the sound," said Hiroshi Miyazaki with Bose.
Bose engineers said their advanced staging technology is meant to deliver a front-row concert experience for front seat passengers. The system includes three ten-inch woofers to enhance sound pressure and create deep frequencies. The remaining 11 speakers are aligned to optimize the cabin’s acoustics.
"When you actually crank up the audio system with the powerful 10-inch speakers in the front doors as well as one in the rear, I believe the consumers will not only hear the impact, but they will feel that impact in their chest, in their bodies, just like they would at a live concert," said Miyazaki.
